Title: All Around NATCH option question
Post by: Linda W. Anderson on November 13, 2019, 03:55:40 PM
As of right now, one can earn an All Around NATCH in 2 ways - with the required number of points in Hoopers and Barrelers OR the required number of points in Gamblers.  My question is this - if you have earned an All Around NATCH in either of these options and then earn enough points in the other option, is that All Around NATCH 2?

Eventually, yes it will work like that.

I expected folks to take a bit longer to get that many points so I wasn't rushing on the code side of things, but people are getting there a bit quicker than I planned.  So we'll have to get that working here soon :)

Just to throw one more “what if” in the mix ... You get AAN 1 with hoopers and Barrelers points. Do you then need 100 or 130 points in Gamblers for AAN 2?

It'll still follow the normal guidelines.

130 for first natch, 230, 330, 430 etc for the ones after

so just to clarify - if you have let's say (random #) 5 AA NATCH with Hp & BR - but no one is really offering them anymore- and you earn 130 Gamblers points that will be enough for AA NATCH 6 - correct?

I understood that you just needed 100 gamblers in that option?  But maybe I'm confused.  It really depends on how the OR is implemented.  <confused>

Sorry to be so dense.  But I am still confused since this is a truly unique situation.   130 for FIRST AA Natch has already been accomplished by 130 in Barrelers and 130 in Hoopers.  So are you saying you still need 130 in Gamblers because it is the first GAMBLERS Natch - even though it the second All Around Natch?

The way I unsderstand it and to be consistent with the other classes, the dog needs to earn the 30 point base title in Gamblers before earning points towards a NATCH.

NATCHs are always earned after the base titles are earned.

So if a dog already has 6 AA NATCHs with HP and BL, then it was earned like this
HP: 30 + 100 + 100 + 100 + 100 + 100 + 100 = 630
BL: 30 + 100 + 100 + 100 + 100 + 100 + 100 = 630

To then earn AA NATCH 7 using Gamblers, the dog needs to earn the base 30 pt GB title first, then 100 GB pts, assuming the other 6 classes are completed as well
GB: 30 + 100 = 130

I hope clubs still offer Hoopers and Barrelers.  I am not a fan of Gamblers and actually will not enter it unless I need to for a package deal for my younger boy.  My older boy got his Elite title and is done with it now.  My last 2 out of 3 experiences with it were not good, and although I will never say never, I'm not a fan right now.  But, I am happy for those that do enjoy it as I know many have wanted it for years.  I just hope Hoopers and Barrelers don't go by the wayside.  They are great for older dogs with no impact being all ground work.

I also hope that clubs will at least sometimes offer Gamblers.  Right now only 1 club in Minnesota is showing Gamblers on the calendar.  Since I'm someone who hasn't run Barrelers in several years and only occasionally run Hoopers with one dog I'd like the opportunity to run Gamblers.  I think the key is going to be to rotate those classes so that everyone gets a chance at the classes they want/need.
