24inch Jumps?
« on: May 31, 2013, 04:40:25 PM »
Why is 20inches the highest jump height?
I have a 29.5 inch tall dog and often wonder why NADAC doesn't offer 24inch jump height. Any possiblity of a 24inch class in the future? :)

Nope, we will not return to a 24" height.  NADAC offered 24" height for many years and when given a choice the exhibitors chose 20" and that is where we will stay.

NADAC is about testing the handling and communication between dog and handler and a jump height has nothing to do with that test, other than giving the dog more air time over the jump.

Having a dog jump higher does not prove better communication skills between dog and handler and the dog's ability to respond to those handling cues, so NADAC does not focus on jump heights in their program.
