jump height question
« on: September 17, 2017, 06:28:51 PM »
Searched the forum but didn't find the complete answer also read the rule book.  I have a young dog just old enough to run (wont be doing so for some months yet).  He measures 26" at withers so will be a 20+ dog.  I do not want to jump him at full height yet until he is a bit older so would likely enter him to jump 16" skilled.  I am also a Veteran Handler but don;t want to run him at 12".  So to start him off until he is jumping at 20" (he has to jump24" in other venues we will be doing), can I enter him in Skilled and jump 16 or Proficient Veteran Handler and jump 16"?  Then can I jump in the future as a Proficient 20" as he starts the higher jumps?

Hi Pat, yes to either option to jump 16" would work, proficient vet or skilled standard. Only thing to remember when selecting VH when running other dogs is all dogs need to run at VH option.

Also there is no 20+ and not, it's just 20".

And can I jump him at 20 in the future when he is older if I start at 16?
