Title: Sharon update
Post by: Chris Nelson on August 19, 2015, 05:01:35 PM
Hey everybody,

So we have some answers now, here is the deal.

Sharon has a very treatable and non invasive form of rectal cancer.   From what they have told us this is very different from colon cancer and much more treatable and not nearly as serious.

So there is that.

She is doing good now that they have figured this out so they aren't doing things to cause her pain any more like the first few days.

She also has a very positive outlook on this and is already planning on how to get back to (mild) work and is even hoping to make it to Championships.

Overall it could have been much worse so everyone here is pretty happy considering the alternate options.

For now they are doing a couple more scans to be positive that it's a localized issue, which they are pretty confident it is.   And then they will start planning on surgery once she talks to the oncologist and surgeons.

So there ya have it.   Thank you again to everyone for the support, we really appreciate it.

Thanks for letting us know Chris.  It's always good to have an answer to what is going on.  I have no doubt that Sharon will be up and running around again in no time at all.  Nothing can keep her down!!!  Please give her our best.

So happy you have some answers.   Hope the treatment will be easy and Sharon will be back with us soon.  Is she able to get on line?

She can get online but I am very thankful that she is using that option sparingly and focusing more on healing :)

Chris, I want to "Like" your last post! Maybe if you do some mark work with her, you can teach her to relax! ;)

Seriously, she needs to rest and focus on herself for now. We will all survive without her for a bit, knowing that she really needs this time to take care of herself.

Again, good luck to all of you helping her rest and get through treatment. And then rest some more!

Take care,

Murrelet

Thanks so much for the update.  Sharon and your family will remain in my prayers as well as the prayers and thoughts of countless others!  She needs to stop, relax and focus on getting better.  I like the idea of the mark bucket wait training but I don't think that sit is the best command for her.  :-)

Continuing prayers going out for Sharon.  Now that the problem is known, it can be dealt with.  Let's keep up the prayers, and positive energy or whatever anyone calls it.

Good Morning Chris!

THANK YOU for the update on your Mom.  We are relieved that Sharon is in good spirits; and that her doctors have a pretty firm diagnosis.  While no cancer can ever be taken lightly, the words "localized" and "highly treatable" are most encouraging.

To the extent that we know Sharon, we are certain that she will be ready to "hit the ground running" as soon as she is in the recovery room; but to the extent that you and Amanda can encourage her to REST, short of strapping her into bed <G>, please do so.  We would be rather surprised if Sharon did not require some degree of post surgical radiation or chemotherapy, as well as some relatively frequent follow-up for a period of time, during which we're pretty sure that her medical team would prefer that she stay close to home.  I (Al) am only writing this because I have frequently received the very same "Rest, follow your doctors' orders and avoid doing anything dumb" from your Mom.............................neither one of us take to "crate rest" very well. <G>

You are all constantly in our thoughts.  Just our humble opinion, but for the foreseeable future, Sharon needs to focus on preparing herself for surgery, post-surgical treatments, if needed, recovery and follow-up rather than planning her return to a "mild" (Yeah, riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!) work schedule!

A VERY WISE lady once told us "All things in time."............................so to shall it be for your Mom!

Glad to hear that Sharon's diagnosis is firm, and especially that the prognosis is so good. That will certainly help you all maintain a positive attitude to facilitate Sharon's recovery and return to good health. We are sending positive vibes too >>>>>

And a giant "whoosh" was heard around the world as all of NADAC Nation releases the breath they've been holding since first hearing Sharon was in the hospital!  Not that we'll breath completely easy until she is proclaimed fully healed, but at least we can breath once again!!

Thank you for the update, Chris.  We are very worried about Sharon, but are relieved to hear that she has a diagnosis, treatment plan, and good prognosis.  We are pulling for all of you.
