Title: Jump Height Reduction
Post by: AgilityRocks! on April 27, 2016, 05:31:45 PM
Just curious if a height reduction had ever been considered for people that aren't veterans and don't need extra course time but just want a 4" jump height reduction?  I have 30 years to go before my dogs can benefit from 4" less of jumping due to my age (yes we already jump skilled.) Any possibility of this happening?  It kind of stinks that some dogs have to jump 4" higher their first 6 years of life...I'm sure I'm not the only one out there that would love to jump a dog lower.  Again, I don't care about more time and I don't begrudge veteran handlers.  I'd just love an option to jump my dogs lower earlier than their veteran age.  :)

I'm kind of confused by this question.  Skilled is a 4" reduction from your dog's measured (Proficient) height that you can enter whenever you want.

Yes, but if I was over 60 my dog could take an additional 4".  I would love to see an optional 4" reduction for my dogs (like a veteran handler's dog has) in addition to skilled.  4" isn't a lot but I would rather jump my dogs at 12" their whole lives than 16" until they are 7.  Does that make sense?

Essentially, I'm asking if anyone had ever considered an 8" reduction in jump height option for folks that wish to take it for their dogs whole life.  I understand that the idea behind veteran skilled class is to give the handlers and dogs more time.  I don't particularly care about more time, but I do care about my dogs jumping 4" they wouldn't have to if I was older.
