Post by: danforth on October 27, 2017, 05:04:11 PM
Have their been thoughts about where next year's Eastern Regionals might be held?

At this point I would like to hold one regional that is sponsored by NADAC, and quite a number more that are done in conjunction with a clubs trials.

We're working out details now :)

I'm just wondering if you have made any progress concerning Eastern Regionals for 2018.  Not pressuring, just need to know how much and when I need to put in for vacation.  Thanks

Regionals for 2018 are going to be done a little differently.
There will be multiple events, all held in conjunction with a normal clubs trial.

So we'll have two on the east coast, one south and one north.
Once we get it worked out with the clubs we'll announce which trials :)

Will they be at the same time as Champs?  So they have to be indoors?

The regionals are qualifying events for the Championships.    So the requirements are just that you're in Elite Regular :)

So does that mean there won't be any pre-elite at Champs?

There will be Pre-Elite.

But Regionals will not be a qualifying event for them.   The qualifications for Pre-Elite are already pretty low,  so I don't think we need a qualifying event for them it :)

Now this is interesting! Kinda sounds like we will have to go to a Regional in order to try to qualify for Champs!?!?  ;) But I get it, it's a secret for right now!  :-X

Not really!   Just have to hit more trials :) the qualifications for champs won’t include being at a regional.

Any chance you might define your version of north?  ;)

Haha at this point we will probably do one in Calgary as well.

Basically we'll try to hit the northern and southern parts of each section of the country, so West, Central and East.   + Calgary :)

That sounds great!!!!  There are lots of excellent NADAC handlers in and around Calgary, some of whom are friends and past Champs teammates of mine!!!!!!

Will regionals be addition to earning points to get to champs or instead of earning points to champs

The winner of each division at regionals gets a bye into champs.  And some other perks that are yet to be decided :)

I vote for the Circle of Friends trials for the south. Always a great trial, covered arena, almost a reasonable drive for the Florida folks. ;D

Southern Regionals at the Olympic Horse Venue (Circle of Friends) In Conyers, GA would be great.  That is an extremely large venue with lots of buildings, RV hookups, crating space.  There is at least one very large covered arena.  There are multiple other arenas with grandstands.  There are multiple barns with stalls.  The parking and bathrooms are great.  It is an extremely clean venue.  It has become more popular, so if this is going to happen arrangements need to be made promptly.
