OK. First, this isn't being posted by who you think it is. This is the silent half of dogrsqr, the one who usually lurks. But something happened today to bring me out of the weeds.
I'm at a trial today and there's an 8-year old junior handler, first time exhibitor, running her grandmother's dog. When not running, she was helping out wherever she could. Nice kid. Most of her runs weren't going all that well, though, and things kind of got the best of her. So, after a while, she's on the verge of tears.
After a little comforting and coaching, though, she's sucks it up and is back for more. Out she goes to run her next course and, ta da, she gets through a whole Intro course. It wasn't all that smooth a run and her time is up there, but the crowd erupts and the young lady is on top of the world. Nice story, and one we see pretty regularly at NADAC trials.
And now the part that prompted me to write. The next handler, the only other team in the same jump height as the Junior Handler, comes up and is going to scratch her run. Her reason? She wants to make sure that the junior handler gets a first place ribbon! She's going to pass on her run, just to give her fellow competitor a lift. Class. Nothing but class.
(Note: We did explain to the second handler that she was in a separate Division and that running wouldn't affect the Junior Handler's placement, so she got to run, too.)

I was there at that trial and saw the joy the little girl had for the day. This was a day she will remember for a long time. Thanks to Jim Nally the judge too who was kind and supportive in every way. My grand daughter was the other Junior handler at the trial and everyone was awesome and cheered her on as well. NADAC people are the best, hands down!!!! Sandy Langan

LOVE!! Junior handlers can be scarce, so seeing one or two at a trial is HUGE! I’m so happy for this youngster, along with Sandy’s granddaughter;)!!
Thanks for sharing this one Jim!!
