New points update and EGC points
« on: October 18, 2012, 11:02:58 PM »
Hi, group.
We are preparing to do a new points update (yea!!) and you will notice that your lifetime EGC points will now be displayed with your "normal" NADAC points.  After two years of testing, it is obvious that EGC is here to stay, so it will now be easier to have all of the points in one place for easy access for all of us!

The new points should be ready for uploading by whenChris is ready after his return from Australia!!  So the new points will start showing in your records probably by Wednesday.

What used to be "points earned" will now be displayed as your run index and the number of "points" earned for your run will be based upon that run index.  For any run up to 74.99 run index, the points earned will be 5 points.  For any run with a run index from 75 to 99.99, the points earned will be 10 points.  For any run 100 and over the points earned will be 15 points.

In upcoming trials the factors will be adjusted so that it will be a bit tougher to earn those 100 and over run indexes, but still do-able!!

I know that many have been waiting patiently for their EGC points to be displayed as NADAC points and the time has come!  Thank you for your support and see you in upcoming trials in some of those EGC classes!

At our Championships this year we scored normal NADAC runs under the EGC scoring rules and we found some very interesting results!!  We will be discussing those in an upcoming post!

So are the 5 pt, 10pt and 15 pt runs based on run indexes just for ECG?
Thanks

Correct.

Your EGC runs will now have both a run index, like normal NADAC and "points earned" that are either 5, 10, or 15, depending upon that run index number.

Within EGC, the rules are still the same in that you cannot move to the next level until the Superiors are earned at each level.

So will lifetime points now include EGC points?  I'm trying to finish Freya's 1,000 lifetime point award and the EGC points would get us a bit closer  ;)

Yes, EGC points are part of your dog's lifetime points.  They are now in your history for everything.  Once the awards start mailing and we are caught up, I will add the EGC awards to the Special Awards listing....

I see the awarding of points based on the DRI has changed the earning of titles?  One of my dogs showed a title earned at a later date than previously, when it was based on number of points, and my other dog showed a title when she previously did not have a title.  Am I reading this correctly that the points earned based on DRI rather than the formula used previously will affect the titles and when earned?

It should give a title "earlier" in most cases.  I didn't find any that earned them later..... but maybe....

I know that any dog that "did" have a title before still had a title upon review and like you said, some had a title now when they didn't before!!

The transition worked very well...

Yes, no complaints and easier to understand in some respects.

Hi Sharon and Chris,

Somehow, in the conversion, you seem to have  given Jack Flash (01-12038) 115 points in Extreme Barrel Racing - which I don't think he's ever competed in!  Very nice of you <g> but feel free to remove them - I prefer only the points he's earned!

When Barrelers was added long after the other classes had been running... all "active" participants had their Gaters points mirrored onto Barrelers..... so if you had 115 points in Gaters on that date, then you automatically had 115 points in Barrelers, the same as every active EGC participant received.

I apologize in advance if this has been covered in a previous post or message thread. I really did try to find it.  On the new Points area in the Members Section, is there a way to see Lifetime Points?  Or must I download to a spreadsheet to see it.  There's a number after each of my dogs names Dinah (273), Dylan (51). But I'm pretty sure that's not Lifetime Points as Dinah has over 2500 and Dylan as a bit more that 51 (OK, not much more, but more).

Thanks Chris and/or Sharon

Those numbers are the number of "records" that your dogs has... which means the number of times the dog has a qualifying record in their file.  If every run is a 10 point run then you can multiply the number of records by 10 and get that answer easily.  If some are 5 point runs then someone needs to look at which post has the thread for downloading your points and doing a points total.

I use excel so it is simple, you just highlight the points column and it gives a total on the lower right of the screen.  But I know that there are many other ways to do it and it has been discussed before.  So if someone has that thread name, it can be reposted again here!
