First Trial
« on: April 09, 2012, 06:53:23 PM »
I'll be driving over an hour to attend my first NADAC trial this weekend.  I'm wondering...about how long will I be there for the 6 runs ?  I'm thinking 2hrs per class so I might be there from 8am to 8pm??  It's going to be a very long day for us!

Howdy!

It depends.

Obviously the big factors are start time and how large the trial is.

Assuming the trial starts around 8:00 and it's average size,   You could be done around 5-ish.

This is just a rough estimate and larger trials will take a bit longer :)

Which trial, where?  :) One ring, one judge or?? What classes are running? Two rounds of Chances can get done a lot faster than two rounds of Regular... lots of factors. The first day does usually seem to take longer than the second but it has been a long time since I've been to one that took twelve hours. Usually the NADAC trials I've been at wrap up the first day 4-6ish.

It definitely depends. I find that NADAC runs faster than USDAA - but there are a lot of factors in play. I have never been at a trial( actively running) past 6pm.

Thanks!  I'm looking forward to having fun at the trial.  It looks like the courses are very open so I'm going to have to try to keep up with my babydog.  Not easy for a portly old fart!

:D Awesome! One ring, one friendly judge and some helpful course builders....  we'll be there on Saturday! Going to be a smaller show, unless something really crazy happens for sure you won't be running until 8pm!

Let us know how you like that trial. I am thinking of going up there to the show in Sept.....  But I am doing USDAA this weekend at Wills Park.

It all depends on how many runs there are and how many rings.  I've been to many trials and only been to one trial that ran close to 12 hours, and that was a huge trial with over 1000 runs with one ring.  With the economy, many trials are smaller and only last 5-6 hours.
