Champs for Newbie's Information

Sharon/Becky/et al.

I was thinking (since furloughed) it might be good to do up a "Champs for Newbies" information sheet that you could post with the next Champs info.  You would have final edit of course, but here is thoughts....in no particular order yet.   If you would like me to work this up, let me know.  Sam & Schatzi & Squeek (Terrier of the near future).

National Anthems - will be played, please be respectful for BOTH.

Walk Throughs - all will walk - be there and be prepared to walk with your group.  The group order changes so please stick around and be ready.

Purple Dog contest
Purple People contest
Stall Decoration contest

Volunteer - a unique opportunity to be on the ground level of the competition.

Raffles: Usually an early bird special - 300 tickets for 100$.  Raffle held on last day of Champs approximately noon. A great use of all those address labels you get in the mail - saves on carpal tunnel from writing your (or your dog's) name on each ticket!
Rescue Raffle - all proceeds go to.......
State Basket Raffle - all proceeds go to........ Most states competing provide a HUGE raffle "basket" of super purple, dog and people related products.   Coordinate with your State participants to see who can outdo the others.
Volunteer Raffle - for all the workers.  Each class you work, you will get a raffle ticket to put in for the basket of your choice at the volunteer table.

Cheering for all - sit in the stands, enjoy the competition and the comraderie.

Team Competition - outfits, music, you name it!

Pre Champs Competition - events, times, ribbons

Super Stakes - a little information about what it is all about
Silver Stakes
Starter Stakes
Triple Crown
Regular

Not sure about a run?  Three Pines can provide a "video review".  You can also fill out a "question" form and have the calls explained.  This will help you understand what the judges are looking for - especially in the stakes competitions!

3 Pine Broadcast - bring your thumbdrive and drop it off with 3 Pines - you will be able to pick it up after the competition on Sunday with all your runs.  You can also order download of your runs, or a DVD.

Vendors - photos, jewelry, chiropractic, leashes, t-shirts, treats, you name it, you can find it.

Stall Snacks and Yappy Hours - visit the stalls, check out the snacks.  The RV'ers are usually holding Yappy Hours after the day's competition - come sit a spell, get to know your fellow NADAC'ers!  WE love to meet new people - BYOB or not!

Ribbons and scoring - Champs is not the same as regular NADAC trials.  Time - faults.  Run fast!!

Sam - I really think you are the Energizer Bunny - I think that is a great idea!!!  I would caution you about putting any "times" in there as people tend to not read the "around" - I might put for the raffles, they have been held after team on Sunday in the past.....  Or, something like that.  I know you were just doing a list, but thought I'd mention that.  Also, the Rescue raffle is the NADAC Rescue raffle, the proceeds contribute to the care of all the amazing dogs who have been rescued by NADAC - a cause very near and dear to my heart, as I sit here with two of those amazing little souls snuggled up with me right now.

And, of course, I could go on and on, but I won't - grin!!  Again, great idea!!

The information sheet is a great idea.  I just attached myself to an experienced friend and refused to let her out of my sight.  Thanks, Karen Merriman...we had a ball!

Would LOVE this!!! Next year will (hopefully) be my first time going to Champs, and I can't wait! I'm lucky to have lots of friends who have been to many a Champs who can help me out, but the more help, the better! :D
