Judges for Bonus Runs
« on: December 02, 2013, 03:59:16 PM »
Hi,
Since all bonus runs are now sent via video for evaluation prior to the points being given, are there still judges out there who are not cleared (not sure of terminology?)/certified for judging bonus runs?
Thank you for your time,
Stacey

Judges are neither "cleared" or "not cleared".  There are no judges other than me, that can award bonuses.  All bonuses are videoed, including most awarded by me and posted.

It is possible that a dog runs a "bonus run" but it is deemed that the judge or course builder did not set the course close enough to the original proposed course (and the original challenges) to award a bonus.  That has happened a couple of times, although most of those became a 15 point bonus instead of a 20 point bonus.

We have also had a couple bonuses not awarded if the judge/course builder does not set the bonus line or bonus box in the same dimensions as the original placement and size on the course map.

So, back to the original question, a judge does not judge a bonus run, but they are still very important in the process!  It is up to the judge to set the course properly (or ensure that their course builder set it correctly) and that the bonus area is defined correctly!

So any judge can set a course for bonus evaluation and set the bonus areas for evaluation!
