Hi, all. Privileged to say that we had lots of fun this weekend at Camp Dodge
in Johnston, IA in the Des Moines Metro Area. The club, Paws & Effect holds 2
NADAC trials as part of their fund raising effort for the year to support their
service dog training program. They train disablility service dogs and therapy
dogs, some of whom serve wounded warriors. What noble service they provide.
Check out their website at

Camp Dodge is an Iowa National Guard installation. They worked hard this
weekend as there were maneuvers all day Saturday and apparently indoor training
Sunday morning and outdoor activities Sunday afternoon.
Saturday was cloudy in the morning and sunny in the afternoon with about 100
runs. After Chances ran Sunday morning we took a break for fairly strong
thunderstorms for about an hour. The softball field drained very nicely and the
trial went on as scheduled. There had been about 80 runs on the agenda on
Sunday and that dwindled as a few didn't stay for the storm but those who did
had a great time. We did not have a chance to meet many of the National Guard
people as they were busy all weekend but those we did meet were very helpful and
encouraging. All in all a great weekend.
I understand that there is another trial in September. We'll hope that anyone
within striking distance will come out and support the club. You'll find it
well worth the drive.
Thanks to judge Jeff Reidl, Sec'y Charlene Nelson and Chief Dog trainer Nicole
Shumate and her husband, Score Keeper Eric Shumate and everyone else who worked
so hard to make it a great weekend. We'll be back to see and support them soon.
Their next trial is Sept 15-16, 2012. It will be a great warm-up a couple of weeks before Champs.
