Educational Tip - That last obstacle
« on: March 11, 2014, 08:25:12 AM »
Occasionally in a dash for the finish line, a dog misses the last obstacle.  Once the dog has passed the plane of the last obstacle, even if they run by it, the run is considered completed and the time stops.  The handler should proceed to leash their dog and exit the ring.  Exhibitors should not attempt to come back onto the course in an effort to complete the last obstacle.  Once the plane of the last obstacle is broken, the run is completed.

Glenn,

Running past the last obstacle will result in a "failure to complete", which is a 20 point fault.  And as Becky mentioned in her post, the timing of your run will stop when the dog crosses the plane of the last obstacle.

Hi Glenn,

Yes, the dog running past the final obstacle is a 20 pt fault ( failure to perform). The person timing will stop the clock & your run is complete. Been there, done that ..... & not always with my "baby dogs"!!! Hope this helps you out!

   Happy trialing!!!
