Welcome, Hello and Bon jour
« on: April 08, 2012, 09:24:06 PM »
So ladies and gentlemen this is the new forum.

As you can tell from the total lack of content 'new' truly epitomizes the pages at the moment.

The good news?   You can change that.

Feel free to post anything you feel.   Keep in mind most of the boards are hidden until you become a member.

And for the judge folks out there:

Here is what you need to do in order to get access to the judges boards.

Click on 'Profile'.   Hover over 'Modify Profile' and then click on 'Group membership'.

From there you can request to be added to the judges group and that board will open up for you.

So, this is to replace the Yahoo group - eh?
Will old messages there remain for some time?  I "search" and look for things a LOT from past posts....

Well we aren't sure yet.

If everyone likes it, and it can have the same functionality as the Yahoo group...Then yes.

The original Yahoo group will stay up though.  That way all the info isn't lost

Hi Chris - Just registered. Do you know if this Forum AND the Yahoo Group will be updated with any news, announcements, rule changes, etc? Just want to be sure I don't miss anything!

Hey Deb,

Ideally in the future it would be just this board.

But it isn't a perfect world and the process of getting everyone switched over will take awhile.

So to answer your question any important info and updates about trials, rules or anything else will be posted both here and at the yahoo groups page.

So people who are in both groups will get duplicate messages? Should we turn off messages from the yahoo group once we have joined this one?

Well it's kind of a chicken before the egg deal.

If we could instantly transfer every member from yahoo groups to here then it wouldn't be an issue.

But since we can't we have to keep posting to Yahoo groups until the member base there shrinks.

But to answer your question (sort of) any important updates will be posted both here and there.

If you like this setup better than you can stay tuned in here.    The only thing you would really be missing out on are questions asked on the yahoo groups list that get answered there.

Great innovation, Chris!  I've managed to register and create a profile . . . and now I'm stumbling my way through navigating the site.  I'm still an analog dinosaur; but the layout of the site looks very, very good . . . and once I get the hang of it, I'm sure that I'll really like it!  Just hoping that my "auto signature" works!!!

Nice to have a forum, it will be different than the yahoo list but now we can just read the topics that interest us.

What is a sticky topic?

Normally as topics get older they get pushed to the back as new topics come in.   And out of sight.

A sticky topic will always stay at the top.   So anything important we want people to always be able to find :)

Thanks for setting this up, Chris!  It is very similar to another board I'm on and I love the organization. It's much easier to find information. I look forward to watching it grow!
