Marcy,

Could you copy/paste that email of Sharon's with the link to the x pens?  I can't find it and I'm ready to buy some and sell my gates.
Sorry I can't search for that right now. But it wasn't an email. It was a reply on the forum. So if you search x pens and look for Sharon replies you can probably find it.

Thanks, Sharon.

And they're lightweight but not TOO lightweight.

Our club decided awhile back to offer the X Hoopers class at our upcoming December trial. Three club members spend their own money to get 20 new lattice gates for the class. I'm a little disappointed now to find out you would prefer ex pens. Will it still be allowed for us to use the gates at our trials. Thanks Sandy Langan  Circle of Friends

Yes, you can definitely use the gates!!  They are allowed and work well!

Can someone post a close up picture of a hoop circle with ex-pens? Specifically looking for how they are made to stand up.  Are the ex-pens staked? Are they slightly offset?

On ours, we only put one stake on the wings.  I don't stake the circle at all, the hoops hold it up when they are velcroed together.

And speaking of velcro, I haven't shopped the velcro aisle yet.  Does it come on a roll that you cut pieces off?  Or what?

I buy the rolls that come in 8" lengths for organizing computer cords.

There is so much information in the forum it is hard to keep up with I have never been able to figure out how Sharon keeps up.

“Circle of Doom”

I’m attaching a photo from a 5.25.15 post…hope it comes through, I have never tried an attachment to the forum before.

Over the past 2 years there have been several strings about the alternative circle.  The first I recall was:
Dec 31, 2014 Sharon Nelson wrote in a post titled “EGC 2015”
In a section labeled EXTREME HOOPERS: ……We are now looking at new ways to safely create the "hoop circle" with another option besides the lattice gates.  The expense of the gates and the amount of storage space and weight are the two biggest factors for clubs resisting the addition of X-Hoopers.  If we can offer other lighter weight and easier storage options, then X-Hoopers would be even more popular than it currently is.  I have now built several circles from x-pens with a foam tube on top and it is working quite nicely.  They stayed up better in the wind and were easy to safely stake.  We will continue to investigate the materials for the "circle" part that would be easier for the clubs.
Post went on to say ….Our options for X-Hoopers is a safe way for clubs to be able to build the circle without the expense, storage and weight of the gates for the circle.
……X-Hoopers and Barrelers are here to stay.  We question the retention of X-Gaters and X-Chances.  X-Chances…….

May 15, 2015 another string of posts about the x-pen circle was started titled Alternative “gate” circle.  Like other strings there were photos of the x-pen circle, but with time the attachments seem to be lost and we get “404 - Attachment Not Found”.   A photo tab in the media section to preserve such photos might be very useful.

Oops I see there is a section in the Media tab called "Hoop and Gate pictures"

Suggest changing this to Equipment Photos and add the X-Hoopers x-pen circle, velco straps, whiskers and other photos of that nature as they come along.
