Quoting someone

Just a quick tip.

When you are quoting a text it's always easiest to just click the button on that post.   Then it will automagically insert it into your response with all the formatting done correctly.

If you want to do it manually it needs to look like this:

[quote] Everything within this is going to be quoted [/quote]
And it needs to look exactly like that.   If you put [endquote] it won't work.    And if you put your response within the quote brackets it also comes out badly as you are putting your response in the same window as the person you are trying to quote

So I just click at the end of the quote and start typing?  Is there no way to just pick out of the whole quote the part you want to respond to? 

I have done both here, so if this works, I'll have already answered my questions!

the only time I manually type out the quote marks are when I answer multiple questions in a single post.

It's kind of rough to explain.   But it should look like this:

I fixed yours too so that you could see what it should look like

And hitting the button really is the way to go.

If I wanted to cut out a section of someones post and just quote a certain area I could just delete the extra wordage.   And not have to worry about the code part of it.

So if I wanted to quote Lynn's very first post, but only wanted the first sentence.   I would hit the 'quote' button and then just delete the extra when it pops up in my window.

This all gets a little harder when their are multiple quotes in a single post.  Like what most of them have been in this topic.   

Or the other option is that I hop in there and fix it
