Forum updates
« on: October 16, 2016, 09:42:03 AM »
Hey Folks,

A few of you may have noticed a url change for the website.    We have finally gotten everything moved over, the forum was the last piece of info still hosted at our last hosting company and I am THRILLED beyond words to get away from them :)

So with the migration we also made a few updates and (hopefully) fixed some long standing issues.  Those would be:

1) The media section is gone.   You can now find your VT courses under the video runs tab.  It links you to a page on the nadac.com website.   Any other info that was posted there should now be available on the nadac website.  Honestly not much was in there so it should be a short list.  The main info that used to be in there that was no place else was Championships premiums, but we have started putting those on the main site now.

2) Emails should now work!  This has been an issue since day one.   Now I make no guarantees.  But from what I have tested the email notifications for topics, and the password reset should now work correctly.  They have been for me.    The issue here was a limit on the number of emails our last host would allow.    We've upgraded to a third party company that will let us send MANY more.   So there may be a small acclimation period where we have to play around with how many emails we send and upgrading our plan.   The more we send the more it costs us, so we're trying not to overshoot by too much :) For instance we have already sent over 1,000 emails since this morning....those notifications really add up when there are this many members :)

3) Tapatalk and the RSS feeds will need to be updated!   The tapatalk link is now going to be different, and the RSS feed link will now be different.  So just update those and you'll be set.

4) You're probably going to have a massive number of unread posts, as the new site doesn't recognize you as ever logging in!   It's an easy fix, just click them all and mark as read until the list is gone, then you'll be good from that point onward.

I'm going to fix a few things right now, missing smileys and avatars.  But the bulk of the forum should be intact and working correctly.   If you notice anything awry let me know :)

As usual, Chris Nelson does an AWESOME job!  One thing I've noticed - and not sure if it's every time, or just some - is when I click on Show Unread Posts since last visit, and then there is a list of them, when I click on one it takes me to the FIRST page of that thread rather than the last page of the thread.  Maybe that will all shake out over time, but just in case, wanted to put it out there.

It's going to do that sadly.  Same issue as above is the database table that tell that page what you have seen is new, so it thinks you haven't seen anything.

It will clean up over time, but for the first time you look at a thread it's going to think it's your first time viewing it :)

And bookmarks?  They don't appear to be "there" any more ...  😳

OK, no geek here.  But....

If I go straight to www.nadac.com - is there supposed to be a 'button' or link to get to the Forum?
I'm not seeing it, even after refreshing.

I'm obviously there, but just wonderin' if someone went looking, how they'd find it!

Consolidation is good!!

Not yet.  Everyone is still so used to the nadac forum address that we are just forwarding right now.   I'll probably get a button added over the next couple days

I just used the pictures to make a bunch of hoops and to share the 'how to' with my club as well.   Please keep them available.

1) Forum button added to nadac.com site (mostly)
2)  I'll make a post for the gate and hoop pictures, and then I'll clean it up later with an actual web page for files :)
3) Bookmarks should show up now.

Are the course maps only going to appear as pdf documents?   Sometimes I want to save only 1 page and use the WORD format to easily do that.

For this week they are just going to be the .pdf

We can probably work the .doc files in there later as well :)

Thanks for the bookmarks Chris.  Greatly appreciated.  And everything else as well, of course!

The hoop specs and the X Hoopers circle info is now also in the Exhibitor Handbook.
