Last year, the groupings for placement/awards were different. We were able to jump our dogs at the height we normally do at any weekend trial, but the dog is 'placed' (for ribbon and awards) with other dogs at your dog's Proficient jump height (based on your wither height)....regardless of what you actually jumped. This is so big dogs jumping 12" are not competing with smaller dogs jumping 12.
So for example, my dog is 20" at withers, runs in skilled and I am VH. So he jumped 12" but I was grouped for placements with all the other 20" dogs that are also vet/VH. This means I completed equally with dogs of the same size in my Vet division group. There are no skilled or proficient separation, those categories are only used for determining your actual jump height. The Std, Vet, VH, JH groupings pertain to Elite Champs dogs and the Pre-Elite Champs Dogs. (Stakes dogs are not subject to the grouping parameters)
