Maybe Chris missed this, but Jill asked about a double digit dog. I believe they must take two height reductions, so the dog would jump 12 inches.

Thanks for that answer, Diane!  I guess I'll have to practice with my dogs at 12". I think they're going to look at me like " are you serious?!?"  😄

Ok thanks for clarifying!!  Don't know if you saw my earlier question. What would my double digit dog jump at Champs?  She measures into the standard 20" height class
Thanks
Jill

If she is 7 by August 1st then she will have to be entered as a veteran and would jump 16

No. My double digit dog is 11. She measures into 20" standard. Trying to figure out if she is going to have to jump 12 or 16
Thanks
Jill

Zia will be 11 at the end of July.  I hope to qualify for Stakes again this year but if we don't, will there be a Double Digit division?
Linda

There will be :)

Last year, the groupings for placement/awards were different.  We were able to jump our dogs at the height we normally do at any weekend trial, but the dog is 'placed' (for ribbon and awards) with other dogs at your dog's Proficient jump height (based on your wither height)....regardless of what you actually jumped. This is so big dogs jumping 12"  are not competing with smaller dogs jumping 12.

So for example, my dog is 20" at withers, runs in skilled and I am VH.  So he jumped 12" but I was grouped for placements with all the other 20" dogs that are also vet/VH. This means I completed equally with dogs of the same size in my Vet division group.  There are no skilled or proficient separation, those categories are only used for determining your actual jump height.  The Std, Vet, VH, JH groupings pertain to Elite Champs dogs and the Pre-Elite Champs Dogs.  (Stakes dogs are not subject to the grouping parameters)

I find this discussion of heights and groups confusing.

Cocoa's standard jump height is 12 inches.   From the beginning I ran as VH, so he jumped 8 inches.   Last year I put him into skilled so he has been jumping 4 inches.  He will be 9 years old as of Champs so he is a Vet.    If there is no skilled, what jump height will he have to jump?

Thanks.

There is a skilled when it comes to your jump height, just not for placements.

So for instance we have a 20" Standard group, and a 20" Veteran group.

Cocoa would be jumping the same as at a trial.  So 4 inches.
