Having problems? Read this first!

When you register you have to make a account name.

If you want your 'name' to show up differently (my account name is NadacChris, but my name shows up as Chris 'CJ' Nelson) then do this:

Click Profile
Hover over Modify profile and click on account settings
Then below the Username will be a column that says 'Name' and you can enter whatever you like in there.

Also remember that this only changes your APPEARED name!

Your username originally used is still what you need to enter when logging in.

If you are having any problems whatsoever, please email me.

I wouldn't go so far as to say this is my baby, but I did put some effort into this and had to learn a lot.   So I have a decent knowledge of how it works and can help you out as well.

You can either send me a PM (Private message) through this board.

Or email me at Nadacchris@gmail.com

I will also take all my previous helpful posts and put them below.   Try to keep everything in one place.

Enjoy!

Feel free to post anything you feel.   Keep in mind most of the boards are hidden until you become a member.

And for the judge folks out there:

Here is what you need to do in order to get access to the judges boards.

Click on 'Profile'.   Hover over 'Modify Profile' and then click on 'Group membership'.

From there you can request to be added to the judges group and that board will open up for you.

For getting access to new posts:

There are multiple ways to access information on this board.   I will outline a few here.

(1) Below your portrait on the left is a button that reads 'Show unread posts since last visit'.    This does exactly what it says, anything that has been posted since you lost visited the site will be here.

(2) 'Show new replies to your posts'.   Again doing exactly what it says.   This is a more stricter search since you would have obviously had to comment already in order to have anything show up here.   But handy if you want to see any new activity on a thread you were interested in.

(3)  At the very bottom of the page under 'forum stats' is a button that says 'View the most recent posts'.   I personally don't like this option very much as the info is jumbled up and all over the place.   But if you are just interested in every single thing someone has said it's not a terrible option for that.

(4) Just open up the boards and view the topics

(5) You can also use the search bar on the left to search for a specific thread.   Keep in mind it's going to take awhile to populate this forum with info.  So the search won't be too helpful until the info comes up.

Hi All,
For those that are used to having the emails sent to you, I thought I would let you know how to get the notifications via email.  If you want to be notified of a "new topic" simply go to the General Discussion main page and click on "notify" and this will now send you a message via email of the message/topic.  If there is a current topic, and you want to be notified of those posts, go into that topic and select "notify" for the messages to be emailed.  You will have to go into each one if you want that particular notification.  You have the option at any time to be Unnotified of the messages.

I tested this under the General Discussion and the EGC General Discussion sections. The messages will come through as coming from Chris "CJ" Nelson and signed by The NADAC Agility Team, not by the user that posted message. To see that, simply log into the form.

Hope you find this information helpful!

Hey Chris,
I've read all these posts and watched the video. Good job BTW.
The question I have is this. Do I actually have to search through this forum and choose each topic I want sent through my email. Do I have to mark each one NOTIFY individually. Is there no way to just have all discussion sent through my email as with the Yahoo group?
Thanks for all the work you are doing on this.

I believe when you click notify on the board it should notify you of any new activity.

If it doesn't try this:

Under account settings, then notifications,  Where it says "for topics and board I have requested notification on, notify me of:"   And change that to 'replies and moderation'.

I believe that will then send an email telling you every time there is a new topic, and also a reply to that topic.   Regardless if you have actually subscribed to it individually.

I will play with it today to be 100% sure.

Hi Chris,
So how do we post  something without using the "reply" icon?  I tried sending a post under the "My Messages" heading, but it wouldn't go anywhere.
And thanks for all your work and help.  Once I get it all figured out, I think it will be more efficient.

You are wanting to start a new topic?   If that's the case there is a button that says new topic on the top right of the board :)

Morning Chris,
I don't know if I want to start a new topic or not (voice intonation not snotty :-)) - I'm still trying to figuring it out.  Topic is the thread of the current discussion and board is the category, for example, training, nutrition, etc.???
I see how to reply, but let's say I just want to post something about our upcoming trial.  Would that be under "notify"???  And thanks a million for all your patience with those of us that need all these tutorials.  They are very helpful!!!

To the left of notify there should be a button that says 'new topic'.   If you click that it will let you start a new one :)

Shirley, if you are not seeing the "New Topic" button as Chris describes, you might have to go back to the original "board screen" (in this case "General Discussion") to see it displayed -- on my computer it does not appear when I am on the screen reading the individual messages in a topic, but it does show up on the screen for the board (with the various topic headings listed below).  Hope this makes sense!

Hi Jean,
It does make sense and I found it!!!  I think I've got it now... or not...

Chris... great job on the video and instructions. I have having a few difficulties and am hoping someone can help me.
1. I thought I had set this up to send me emails. I checked all three boxes about notification. Have I done something wrong or am I mis-understanding this process?
2. Thanks to all of you for the suggestion of tapatalk. I downloaded it last night and it feels easier to read than using my computer (exactly as others wrote). But somehow I have 3 versions of NADACForums on my iPad One shows my User name with upper case where I used it (Local); one shows my user name without upper case (Cloud); the third shows nothing where those other two did but says Previously Visited. Is there a way to ahve just one? Do I just always use the Previously Visited?
3. Lastly: I cannot figure how to log out of tatatalk! Can someone help me there?

Thanks
Kathryn
