Chris... great job on the video and instructions. I have having a few difficulties and am hoping someone can help me.
1. I thought I had set this up to send me emails. I checked all three boxes about notification. Have I done something wrong or am I mis-understanding this process?
Thanks
Kathryn

I am having the same problem as Kathryn.  I have clicked to get emails and I do not get any!  Do we need to stay logged in to get them?  When I am done for the day, I do log out of the forum.

It's a obstacle we are still trying to overcome.

The forum software was always meant to be run through a browser.  And the email notices were really just a secondary thought.   So trying to change the core function of the program is proving to be a bit of a challenge.

I am not giving up on it yet.  But it's definitely going to take some time

I'm not sure how to trim. Just wanted to say thank you for your efforts. I very much appreciate them.

So how does one quote just a part of an email to which one is responding?

The easiest way is to find the post you want to quite and then click on the 'quote' button inside the post.   That will bring up the reply screen with all the important info already done.

You can can also do it while you are already in the reply screen by scrolling down and clicking 'insert quote' on the right.

Question: If I click on 'Show unread posts since last visit', and select the topic I want to read.  How can I tell which posts have not be read in a topic?  Is there any indication such as a change in color or a symbol somewhere that indicates it's an unread post?

If you click on the 'new' button in the post title, That will automagically bring you to the first unread post :)

OK.  It's been driving me nuts and I have to know - what do those little yellow boxes under our names on the left side stand for?  Some people have one, and some have 5.  I've been trying to figure it out, but can't.  So I finally have to just ask.       And do you have any idea why I can't get one of the smiley faces above the message box to appear in the message?  All I get is this website quote.  http://nadacforum.com/Smileys/default/grin.gif
These are not particularly important issues, but inquiring minds want to know.  Also not sure which topic this goes to, but I'm sure you know where it goes.
Thanks!!!
P.S.  Just found out it won't let me change type color either.  Must be a setting somewhere???

The stars are a rating system the forum uses.   One I have actually been meaning to get rid of for awhile, and will do today.

So normally these forums have a few groups that are separated by post count.  0-10 posts would get your 1 star.   11-50 would get you 2 and so on and so on.

But we aren't doing that here.   So I will change it today so we all get 5 shiny stars :)

As for the smileys.   I am not sure on that one.   You should be able to just click on the smiley you want and it will insert itself into the message.  Like so  8)    They are just a combination of characters that the forum recognizes as a smiley and inserts.    There shouldn't be any URL's though.

In the message view (When you are composing a message) they will not show up yet as the 'real' smiley, but instead as the characters.    So the  8)  actually looks like this in the message box 8 ) just remove the space so that they are right next to each other

The box you compose messages in only shows the "command" for things like smileys, underlining, etc.  To see what your final message will look like before you post, hit the "Preview" button on the lower right hand side under the box beneath the area where you are composing the message.  A box will appear above showing what your final message will look like, smileys. and all.  You can then edit it using the lower box where you compose the message.  When you are happy with how the message appears, hit the post button and it will be sent for modetor approval.

The button for changing color of text is above the box where you compose messages above the smileys---there is a drop-down menu with a button.  Click on the button and the drop-down menu will show you the colors available .  Pick one, and compose your message.

Chris and Sheila, thanks for the help with all of this.  None of it is of earth shattering importance, but now that I'm retired, I sometimes have the time and inclination to play with these things, and I like them to work the way I want them to!!! ;D  Notice the cute little smiley face but I still couldn't get the color to change.

Hi, Shirley.  I played with this a bit and this is what I found.I clicked on the change color tab and selected red.  I got this .  Make sure your cursor is between the ][ and type and it should be in the color you select.  Anything outside those should be in black.

Now, hoping it works as I explained but when I clicked Preview it had red between them.

Where do I find the Club List or section?  I was on it prior to the Form, but now I do not know where to find information like Week Number for the trial application.

You weren't on the trial secretaries list here.

I just got you added, so now when you go to the homepage (nadacforum.com)  you will see a new area that has all that fun stuff :)
