Double Run Format
« on: April 30, 2017, 11:37:43 AM »
Where can I find a clear explanation of the Double Run Trial Format and a list of classes that can and cannot be offered as double runs?????  I have tried to search the Forum as I know this has been discussed at length, however, I can't find exactly what I need to understand everything I need to know as a Trial Secretary about this format.  I am getting ready to prepare my premium for my next trial and would like to offer the Double Run format.  Thanks for any help in making this clear to me.

Hi Sara!

I am writing this offf my phone, so i apologize in advanced for it being "quick"! :-D

All classes can be offered as Double Run,  the big rule with double run trials is that any class offered has to be run as double run if it is run multiple times. So for example, if you are offering Touch n' Go, it must be offered as double run, you would not be able to offer 1 round on Saturday and 1 run on Sunday. For example:

This is NOT allowed with double run trials:

Sat: 2 Regular, 2 Chances, 1 Touch n' Go
Sun: 2 Regular, 2 Jumpers, 1 touch n' go

If two rounds of a class are offered, they must be double run.

Hope this makes sense, and i can write a better exsplnation once I get back to my computer! :-D

Sara,

Take a look at the fun-raiser premium for Cookeville, TN.  It is a 3 day Double Run Format.

Sara,

Take a look at the fun-raiser premium for Cookeville, TN.  It is a 3 day Double Run Format.

On the Cookeville premium, all runs are double runs.  Does that mean that if you offer a Double Run Trial that you can't have a single run of some classes.  Also, does this mean that Regular always has to be double run now and can't be run as a renumbered second course??  Example of running order below:

Friday:  Jumpers (2), Chances, Regular 1 & 2, Weavers, Tunnelers

Saturday:  Tunnelers (2), Chances (2) Touch n Go, Regular (2), Jumpers

Sunday:  Jumpers, Barrelers (2), Regular, Touch n Go (2), Chances, Tunnelers

Would that be an acceptable format???  What would need to be changed if it is not acceptable???  Thanks for any and all help.  I need it badly!!!!   ;D

For Double Run Format, any class offered more than once during the weekend must be run together.
You can have some single runs but only if you offer that class just once OR it is a 3rd round of something (only pertains to 3 day trials).
At a double run trial, yes, regular also is the same course twice, no reversing numbers.

The run order you posted does not fit the double run requirement but also has the following issues:

Friday: too many jumping classes and too many total classes

Sat: same thing as Friday

Sunday: works but Not for double run.

4 rounds of jumping classes per day is the maximum.

8 classes a day are allowed but only if Hoopers or Barrelers are rounds 7&8.

Hoopers and Barrelers must be double run if you offer more than one round, no matter wether the rest of the trial is double run or not.

Hi Sara, try this:

Fri: Reg (2), J, Ch, Wvrs (2)
Sat: Reg (2), J (2), TNG (2), Barrelers (2)
Sun: Reg (2), Ch (2), Tunnelers (2)

You could add 2 Hoopers on Sunday if you want

In Double Run trials, are the Regular classes between days a reversed course?  So on Saturday you run the course two times in one direction, and on Sunday you run the course two times in the other direction?  Or are they completely different courses?  Or are they similar courses where the contacts don't move?  Just trying to figure out if it will save course builders' energy if I have Regular as the last class on Sat and the first class on Sunday.

Also, if I offer 3 classes on Friday, 6 on Saturday, and 6 on Sunday, can two of the Friday classes be jumping classes?  See below:

Fri:  1 Barrelers, 2 Jumpers
Sat: 2 Reg, 2 CC, 2 WV
Sun: 2 Reg, 2 Tg, 2 Tn

Can 2 Reg be offered on Friday if I moved the 2 Jumpers to Sunday?

Thanks!

I won't address your 2nd question about Friday runs - not sure enough about the answer, but the answer to your first question is yes.  First day 2 Regulars in one direction.  Second day 2 regulars of the same course in the opposite direction.
