question about Stakes Scoring
« on: May 29, 2018, 06:32:26 AM »
Would you please explain how the scoring will be done this year for Stakes?

I see that it will be placed and scored the same as other divisions with bonus points added.

So what does this mean??  Will there be extra points for specific sequences or just individual obstacles?

Base points - time - faults + bonus points = score

Bonus points will be sequenced sections of the course.  1-3 worth this value, 4-7 worth this value.  7-10 worth this value.

Placements will be based off overall score.

Sashes will also be given out for any team who earns over a certain percentage of the bonus point available for that round,  and cups will be given for any team who earns over a certain percentage of bonuses available for the entire event.

We’re looking at runs from last year to decide whether those percentages used were accurate,  they will most likely remain the same.

Just trying to understand this.
1. I missed the announcement that Stakes will be placed this year.
2.  Does this mean there will be no cup/trophy for earning a total number of points overall?
3.  Will the required number of points needed for a sash be listed on the course maps or announced in some other way prior to running the course?
Thanks or clariying this.

It was in the very first 'premium' / info sheet posted to the Champs page.

1) It's been out for quite awhile now.   Since the info sheet was originally published I believe.
2) It's the same as it was in 2017.   Here is an excerpt from the info sheet last year regarding this:
"Each sequence will have a different value, based on the difficulty of the sequence.   The total value of all the sequences put together is 100 points, with the exception of the speed round which will have 80 points, and the weavers round which will have 120.

The number of points needed for a SASH (Per Round) is 60 points.
The number of points needed for a Cup (Overall) is 600 points"

3) See above.

Think of it like this.

We're combining both versions of stakes.

The old version that was strictly placements, AKA handlers competing against handlers.

And the new version, AKA handlers competing against the course.

So you could come out, and you might get first place, but if you don't get 60 bonus points you won't receive a sash for that round.

Same as you could get 1st place overall, but if you don't have the 600 bonus points overall you won't get the cup.  You will get the 1st place ribbon and a plaque.

Definitely!

Should be a fun mix of both.  The folks who don’t want to compete can run against the course for a sash, and the ones who want to compete can run against the handlers.
