Will it still be:

100 points regular (open or elite)
40 points jumpers (open or elite)
40 points chances (open or elite)

for Champs qualification in 2019?

For the Elite division yes.

Pre elite will be changing slightly.
Stakes classes will be changing slightly.  Nothing world altering for either.

Any information on motels you would recommend in the area? I don't see a LA Quinta listed. Sandy Langan

Any word on when the 2019 qualifications for Pre-Elite will be announced?   I am going under the assumption that it won't be less than the 2018 so at least I know where to start but want to make sure I plan for any other requirement.   Thanks

For information on the Champions Center, including hotel information, you might want to check out the host club page from this year's CPE Nationals:

http://www.ohiohostclubs.com/

I have stayed at the Courtyard in Springfield on my last two Nationals trips and have been mostly satisfied with the hotel. When we were there in June, they mentioned that they will be starting a remodel this fall so hopefully they can fix some of the small issues that we've had in the past (i.e. the refrigerators!). The CPE host club was able to negotiate a $25 length of stay pet fee. Fingers crossed that NADAC might be able to do the same.

I also stayed at the Quality Inn on my first trip to Springfield. It was okay, but kind of worn out. I know that other people have been happy with the Red Roof.

Do you know if CPE was able to negotiate the number of dogs in a room as well?  I haven't really had an issue at any Champs with the number of dogs, and I would assume that if they have been host hotels before, there shouldn't be an issue, but I have 4 dogs that go with me.

I am confused. I thought the location for champs is rotated between west east and middle. 2017 ohio, 2018 wyoming, and 2019 Ohio again. All 3 of these sites are at least 1200 miles from the west??

Contrary to popular belief champs has no set in stone schedule

There was a period where we went to Mankato Minnesota for about 3 or 4 years in a row.

We also went to Gillette about 4 years in a row as well.

The last few years it has shifted between east and west.   But in reality Springfield Illinois isn’t really all that east.

We mainly go where it is popular to go.   Right now we’ve gotten very good entry numbers in the upper east and this year in Wyoming we have 350+ dogs entered so we’ll probably end up back there as well.

Most venues actually do their national events in the exact same state every year.

Thanks for your answer, even though I personally dont think it is fair to those of that live west . FYI, AKC rotates their national championships between Reno NV, Tulsa OK, and Perry ,Georgia. They usually keep their Invitationals in Florida, but that is way different from Nationals.

What’s fair is making the event at least a break even affair for NADAC with entry numbers, or we won’t have it at all. Obviously the farther toward either coast you go the fewer people you get traveling from the other direction, with no one coming from the ocean side LOL.
And I have a very strong negative reaction as soon as anyone says “But XXX does it this way,”. But maybe that’s just me...

It's not just you!  IMHO, if you want to go badly enough, you'll make it happen.  I save all year to e able to travel.  This year it's 1,700 miles ONE WAY!

Unless Champs is in their backyard, everyone will have to travel some. If you put it near each coast on alternating years, then more people will have to travel farther...

Also, why is this a hot topic right now?  It's already decided for 2019.  Let NADAC concentrate on this Champs now.   If you just  HAVE to throw a fit, won't it keep until mid-October, when they won't be so busy?

Yep.

I've never been to Champs.  It's not just the travel costs - though that's a lot, but time off work and arranging care for other animals at home that aren't coming.  I can't drive, so that means I have to take my husband and that complicates things, a lot.   I really haven't been able to make it happen.

What I HAVE been able to make work was deciding in 2016 that I would attend 2019.  Admittedly - absolutely - the possibility of going then was made much easier by realizing that it would be closer to me.  If I had to go west and that 1700 miles Linda was talking about, it'd take another year (both because of the schedule champs has been on, and money and extra time). It would be nice if it was only an hour or two away and I could drive back and forth and not have to worry about a hotel or animal care and maybe hitch a ride, but that's not the situation.

So.  I have decided I am going to Champs at least once, and by god I AM GOING TO CHAMPS.
