Using excel to calculate lifetime points
« on: July 26, 2012, 05:29:56 PM »
While there is another thread on lifetime points I created this new topic to make it easier to find the file.  They should show up below this post.

In the other thread on lifetime points, I posted the points.xls excel spreadsheet that processes the csv file you can download from the NADAC points lookup.  This is the same file attached here.  In addition a second excel spreadsheet makes it even easier.  If you have excel, internet explorer and an internet connection, just open the file and enter your dog's NADAC number.  The macro then opens an internet explorer window, gets your points then calculates your lifetime points.  As in the other file it also gives you the total by year.  Also, on the first tab is the information as it appears on the web.

Note: both files use macros.  For the macros to work you must allow macro by Selecting Tools->Options, Click on the Security Tab.  Click on the Macro Security button.  Set to Medium.  This will prompt you when you open a file with macro if you want to enable them.

Enjoy.

Added new "points lookup mac.xls" that should work on PC or Mac and not require Internet Explorer.

Added files (PC and Mac) with Chris's awards breakdown to this sticky.

Lisa,
It isn't going to be easy to make the automated work on a Mac.  You could try install Internet Explore on the Mac and it might work but I'm not sure.  I'll have to do more investigation.

Last time I used the file that Chris supplied and the output was not only listing of my points earned, but to the right was a list of awards earned.   I cannot find that file and the instructions that came with it.  Can someone help me locate that?

Thanks.

I added my version of Chris's spreadsheet to the first message of this file.  They will appear once approved.  Here is the link to Chris's original post.

I tried using this file to calculate lifetime points for my retired dog Jack flash - got the file with all his Q's and titles but no lifetime points. How do I get this? Thanks!

I would be patient for a couple days and then it won't be needed.  We have exciting new programming coming that will remove all needs for "extra" little calculations.  Your points will show your lifetime points soon............ hold on for a couple days and you will be rewarded!!
