Teams

Apologize if I’ve missed this, but how will teams be working this year? Can someone explain in detail? Thanks!

No info has been released yet about Teams.  That usually comes a little later once there is a more clear idea of how many dogs are entered in each category.  The one piece of info that has been published is in the Info Sheet on the Champs page ...

Team Info:
The team event for this year will consist of cumulative scores from rounds 1 through 5, with a relay round occurring On Sunday Morning which will count for 50% of the teams score for the week.

Thanks. I’m really looking for info on how the relay portion will be done and how many dogs form a team. I am coming from the west coast so won’t really have time to practice with anyone as I don’t know anyone else from my area that is going.

If it’s like last year....  Each dog starts in about the same place on one side. Each dog finishes on the other side. As the first dog finishes and gets leashed up that handler raises their hand or yells go and the second dog runs. There are three different parts to each course but starting close to the same place and finishing at the same place. One of the legs has a distance challenge. Team members look at the three sections and decide which dog is going to run which section. Each section as I recall was between maybe 7 and 9 obstacles. So it was a very quick “relay”. But never were two dogs off leash at the same time nor in the same vicinity.   And no real practicing.

I too may be interested I am a vet handler with a vet dog so might be interested. Haven't quite decided yet, but more likely to do it than not!

I have an 8 year old sheltie who's becoming steady a bit late in life, but she's doing well She jumps 8" proficient

I too may be looking for teammates...but as I recall, we're waiting until after closing to find out from Chris what groupings will be (e.g., Vet Dogs + Jr. Handlers, or whatever).
So - let's hold onto those requests, and check in after awhile!

There are several people seeking further clarification on teams. Will the dogs have to be the same division/jump height ex- only veteran elite dogs at 12”, only vet handler elite, Jr handler elite, standard elite, DD elite, etc?
Thanks

Divisions not yet determined but yes they will have to all be in the same designated division, but not the same jump heights.

And last year they combined JH and vet in elite.  This year depends on how many JHs enter.  They always have enough Vet...
