Four Paws Rule, 6/1-2/2019

Four Paws Rule's Spring Fling, June 1-2, 2019, at the Jewett residence in Otis Orchards, Washington, was a hot one this year!  We even had a few hours of smoke from distant fires, which we wouldn't have expected so early in the season.  But the smoke cleared off, and the mornings were lovely.  We had a great time with our friends and dogs: Fun courses, good runs, delicious food, lots of NQ and worker prizes, and the best volunteers in the agility world.  Thank you especially to those who helped us build course and tear down on Sunday, when the sun was at its brightest.  We couldn't have managed without you.

It was great to have judge Pam Kaye back in the Inland Northwest.  Pam explained NADAC's new rules and options to us, and some of us tried out the toy option to good effect.  Everyone enjoyed working with Pam and benefited from her knowledge and cheerful presence.

Our long-time secretary Dorothy Bowers did our pre-trial work but was not able to serve at the trial.  Carol Scranton stepped in as day-of-trial secretary, input our many day-of-trial entries, and kept us all on track.  Thank you, Carol and Dorothy!

Barb Soucy provided transportation for the judge.  Barb also gave Four Paws a donation to support our trials (she earned it by making and selling beautiful leashes).  A donation like this is really helpful for a small group.  Thank you, Barb!

Our trial improvements this year included a snazzy new aluminum-frame dogwalk (with wheels!) and a new food tent.  Apparently the food tent inspired Karen Egbert to surpass herself: We had goodies of all kinds throughout the trial.  On Saturday afternoon, we had our usual barbecue, with Gordon Jewett's delicious hamburgers and contributions from many competitors as well.  Sydney Chambers stopped course building in time to custom-make basil-jalapeno margaritas for us.

From our Brag Board:
    Newton: Superior Novice Weavers title.
    Pasha: Open Weavers title.
Piper: Open TnG title, Open Tunnelers title.
    Raider: 1st Elite Chances Q.
    River: Open Chances title.
    Wyn: Superior Elite Regular title.
Sorry I have been slow in getting this message out.  We hope to see you at our trial on August 24-25!
