“Owned by”
« on: July 23, 2019, 08:28:29 AM »
I struggled with that wording on titles “owned by”; even when designing it but it was the standard so i used it.

I dont really like owned. Our dogs are our partners.

I know sometimes though people run others dogs, so i assume that is the reason for “owned by”.

But...i would love to see that text changed to say:
Presents
Puppy of Awesome
In partnership with The Person
With xyz title

Getting rid of the owned by and recognising the partnership it is.

Not sure if a thread here is a good way to suggest or if it shouldve gone to nadac office but i thoughts maybe some discussion could at least happen?

On one hand I like (a lot) the phrasing 'in partnership with', since that very much what dog sports are - a partnership between human and dog.

On the other, I am a big fan of the law seeing my dogs as my property, and have a knee jerk negative response to anything that goes out of its way to avoid that language.

So, basically, I could be made happy either way.  It's not actually a particularly huge deal for me.

I do like the suggested wording but one issue would be some dogs are run by multiple handlers at different trials. In some cases the owner never runs them. I would guess in all fairness to the owner the wording is best as it is. I do agree, Ziva is my partner alot more than I am her owner. Oh well I just looked and I am not her owner either, my wife is.   ;) ;)
