2012 champs update
« on: August 05, 2012, 09:28:06 PM »
Hi, everyone.
On my way home (???) from Montana, I went by the Championships site.  SWEET!!!!!

There is grass all around the arena building, along with HUGE grass fields less than 100 feet away!  While I was there they had a horse jumping event there with TWO huge outdoor grass arenas.  This is also their polo field.... it was beautiful!

Parking is very close and the RV parking is right outside the door.

The stall barn is only "covered", so there aren't any ends or sides to the building.... so any stall reservations will be for the four rows of "interior" rows of stalls.  There are six rows of stalls in each covered building, so Becky will not be assigning the outdoor rows, as they will be the coldest and it is possible for it to be "cold" in October in Utah.

The stalls are solid on three sides and the front side is solid for about two feet and then the rest of the front is rows of "bars".... so if you want to keep them a bit warmer, you might want to bring a blanket to cover the front of the stalls if you reserve a stall.

The RV parking is very close and runs for 300' feet as the "first" row..... so no one will be very far away.  The exhibitors parking is also very close.....

Tons of great vendor booth areas inside the main building and great setups for the videographers and the judges!

The arena is beautifully set up and easy for everyone to have a prime viewing spot!  Great walls to hang purple upon!

I was very happy to view the facility and can't wait to get back!!

Those stalls sound like the ones we used at Castle Rock back in 2004.  Will make sure I pack extra blankets for the fur kids!

When will we be able to reserve stalls? Will we be able to be near others from our area as well?

Also, will there be a "Champs List" in the forum for us?

We are looking forward to attending our 2nd Champs!!!

Yes, once I finish inputting the entries, we will start up the Champs list, send the confirmations and start taking stall reservations!!

The stalls are 10x10, made of metal.

I too recently re-visited the site (had been there eons ago, and wasn't sure I was remembering correctly!).
Everything Sharon said is RIGHT ON!!  Lots and lots of grass, and the setup(buildings/parking/etc.)  is quite "compact" - which after several days will be lovely!

I'll have some route info (approaching South Jordan as well as from the Moab area) for the Champs list when it is up and running.

And we're anxious to be up and running too!  Can't wait!

This is slightly off this topic but I am having difficulty finding the entry forms for the Pre-Champs funraiser.  I have looked under trials in Utah, Funraisers, Championships and on Click 2 run.  I can't find one anywhere...has it been posted and I am missing it?  The Champs site sounds awesome...very glad there will be lots of places to walk and run dogs   :)  Thanks for the update on what we can expect.

I am not sure I understand what the stalls are for? Also, won't the weather be in the 70's? Is it cold there the first week in October?

Debra,
The stalls are for setting up your crates/dogs, chairs etc.

Hi Sharon,
I have a few questions regarding the stalls and reserving them.
#1 - You mentioned the stalls are made of metal. Is the flooring hard dirt or ??? Would you reccomend that we bring something to put on the stall floor before we put our crates inside?

#2 - When reserving a stall, if an agility club wants to "hang out" in one area together, should only 1 representative of the club make the reservation for enough stalls to accomodate those members and their crates?

#3 - Is there a fee to reserve a stall? If so, how much?

Thank you,
Salli Dulco

Hi Debra,
We used stalls last year in Springfield and they worked out well.  We had a "decorate your stall" competition, which was great fun!!!    Lots of creativity among our exhibitors.

The stalls in Utah are just outside the main arena, very close.  As we did last year, we'll do our best to crate, ummmm  I mean stall folks with friends.  But that won't happen until the Championship list is up and running....

Think PURPLE!!!

We did not need stalls in Gillette so I am confused? Does everyone have to reserve a stall?

1) Early October is quite variable in Utah weather!  Yes, it might be in the 70s during the day. Even with that, it will likely be quite chilly in the mornings.  It *might* not be quite so warm!

2) Question on the stalls:  Is this the *only* crating, or just the more *private* crating area?
