Effective January 1st, 2020:

The gamble will be considered attempted when the first obstacle is taken, in the correct direction of the gamble.

This is a change from the current rule, which is that the first two obstacles must be taken in sequence.

So does this mean you can't use the first gamble obstacle in you opening to gather points???  If you take the first gamble obstacle, it means you have started the gamble and must continue on to complete the gamble?  Thanks.

Correct.  Once the first gamble obstacle is taken in the correct direction you must continue with the gamble or you will negate your gamble opportunity.  Once your gamble is complete you can use that first obstacle as you like.

Maybe this isn’t a “thing” anymore... but I did see a gamble of three jumps, which could be taken in either direction.  If that might still exist:  could one take #3 and then go elsewhere?  As long as 1-2-3 happens later?  Just “what if-ing” here...

What is the saying?  "Dont make the judge think?!?!"  Personally I would stay away from using any part of the gamble until I was ready to do my gamble.  Usually lots of choices, dont make the judge go 'hmmmm"

What pieces of equipment are necessary for a gamblers course? Have 2 rings so doing some thinking how to add to our trials. Thanks in advance

You will most likely always see: Dogwalk, A frame, jumps, hoops, a set of six weaves (maybe 2 sets), some tunnels, and a couple barrels.  They mostly look like a regular course with a set of six weaves and a couple barrels.
