Sharon:

The rules say that the leash may be put on the dog between exercises.  To me, this reads as if you do NOT have to have the leash on the dog between exercises if your dog is under control.

However, I was told by a tester at at BA test that I must put the leash on my dog between exercises, although my dog was under voice control and was willingly following me, at my command, between the stations.

Which is correct?

No, you do not "have" to put your leash on.   You "may" put your leash on if you choose.  It might be that a tester would ask you to put your leash on if they felt that the dog was not as controlled as they want.... but if your dog is under control you should be able to walk between exercises without a leash.

Thanks.  The tester agreed the dog was under my control, but said that the rules required that the leash be put on the dog between stations.

Maybe they are reading this and will realize that there is a choice.  I am sure it was just a misunderstanding.

I'm looking for the postings about using a barrel in the BA Test?
I heard that you could use a barrel instead of the a-frame?

Yes, we do allow a barrel exercise in place of the a-frame test for clubs that don't have an a-frame available.  It is attached to this post and I will add it to the Media section.

Very excited about the release of the BA-3! I do have a question. In the aframe tunnel test can the four second stop be in the yellow on the aframe? Or, does the dog need to be released from the aframe and show restraint on the ground before entering the tunnel?

They cannot flip from the a-frame to the tunnel.......... also it does not show a "discrimination" when the dog is already on the a-frame.  The dog should leave the a-frame and the next part of the test is a discrimination showing that the dog will go into the tunnel when given both as choices.

Okay, I had to read it again. So, we would probably want to mark a pause area out for exhibitors. I LOVE the honor exercise! I like this challenge better than heeling off leash.

Would you clarify the use of collars in BA.  The Guidelines talks about taking the leash off the dog, does this mean the dog my keep their collar on or does the rule of no collars carry over from regular NADAC agility to BA?

Collars are not allowed in any NADAC class, including BA tests.

The application for a BA Test states minimum of 8 gates are needed for Level 3, but I count 6 when looking at the test setup (course layout).  What am I missing? ???
