Hey All,
I took the day yesterday to feel sad for myself and everyone else missing champs, but it's back to work today, so I've got a few questions I've seen floating around that we'll answer here, as well as some more detailed explanations.
1) Will Champs be on the west coast in 2021?Sadly the answer is no. Our contracts for both our west and east coast facilities are booked on a rotating basis for the 'skipped' years. So Gillette always has us on the even years, 2020, 2022, 2024, 2026 etc. And Springfield has us on the odd years, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2025, etc.
So the real issue, is that on the years that we aren't at those places, the dates are reserved for other events. So if we were to hold Champs in Gillette in 2021, it would be a challenge getting that date, and then it would also mess up our reservations for 2022 since we don't historically have that date in Springfield.
And the fact is no matter what happens, it's going to suck for either the west or east. If we hold it on the East coast, the west has to travel farther, or just can't go at all because of the distance and you guys essentially miss 2 years.
But, if we hold it on the west coast, then it's that exact same issue just for the east coast people now. so there is no way to win on this one. And with all the difficulties we've had in the past with getting decent dates reserved, I'm really not comfortable with risking losing them, since that would really affect everyone for an even longer period of time.
2) If I qualified in 2020, will I still be invited for 2021?If you met the normal qualification guidelines, then absolutely! We would definitely extend that invitation to the following year.
3) Will my Regional win count for 2021?The plan for 2020 was that all regional wins would be for that year only, so Gillette in 2020 only.
But with the issues surrounding us this year we'll be extending any regional byes and invitations out to 2021 as well.
Those are the big ones I've seen so far, but if you guys have any more questions feel free to ask
