contact equipment matting - where to purchase?

Hi,

I am looking at possibly refurbishing our contact equipment, and I'm wondering where I can order the NADAC approved matting?  The link in the exhibitor's manual for dogagilitymatting.com doesn't go to a functioning website, and I can't find anything about it on the regular Shipp Belting website.

I know someone in Oklahoma who is selling a couple of precut Shipp Belting mats for an Aframe.  No idea what shipping would be.

OK, contacted Chase and got the Shipp Belting.  Does anyone have a recommendation for what glue works best to attach it to aluminum?  It will be outside all the time.

 I used this stuff for both my A-frame and DW.  You have to "rough up" the back of the rubber, then apply the cement to both surfaces and let it set until it's tacky.  You really need 2 people to make sure you get it on straight.  Good luck!  Linda

I used the contact cement too. But edges seamed pealy-uppy still. So I used a cawking gun with liquif nails around all the edges. It doesnt move or peal up now!! If i were to do it again esp for a narrow piece like a DW i think id just zigzag liquid nail, apply quick, then do an edge bead with it. The contact cement was a beast to work with. Def want two people to line up the rubber and set it down. I couldnot have done it alone.

We used the Weldwood stuff.  Make sure you follow the temperature instructions.  We did it in our club building (heated) over Christmas when classes weren't going on.  Borrow clamps from everyone you know.  Clamp the ramps (matting sides together) for 72 hours and use boards along the edges of the middle plank - and clamp that down - 72 hours.  We haven't had trouble with it peeling up - and this was 5-6 years ago.  We did not "rough up" the rubber. 

One hint: clamp one end (no glue) and flip the rest of the matting back to spread the glue.  Roll that down and clamp it - then unclamp and roll back the unglued section, glue it and clamp it down.  Clear as mud??

I've been using contact cement at work for a long time.  I lay a heavy plastic(I use construction vapor barrier) over the glue once its ready, leaving 2" of plank exposed at one end.  Then I lay the rubber over that, securing the exposed 2".  Then slowly pull the plastic to the other end.  Stop to make sure the rubber and plank are staying aligned.  I've secured 2 dog walks, 2 a-frames and a teeter with no mistakes.
 
Although, the edges started to loosen and curl after a few years.  I repaired that with exterior grade construction glue and a few clamps.
