Some excellent decision, choices and info there!  Thank you.

I know it's waaaayyy to early to say anything definite - but could you give us an idea of what COVID-19 precautions you are considering?
(I won't hold you to anything this far ahead!)  This is going to be the major decision for me, whether to come or not.  (Even though it would be the first one I've missed in many years.....)

Thanks!

Good questions!
We're going to be making a update to the Champs page tomorrow with everything listed, but a few things off the top of my head without looking at my list:
1) The facility is currently requiring that anyone inside the building wears a mask, we would be enforcing this as well.
2) The stalls and areas around the ring would become one way only.
3) We will have some sort of ring management system in place.  Agility Gate is the most friendly, and everyone has probably seen it by now so it would be the easiest for everyone to get used to.   This should eliminate the mass congregations that we always see outside of the main chute.     We have a couple other ideas for this, including some large TV's or projectors in different parks of the arena and main chute to show people who is currently running and who is lined up.
4) We will be doing our best to make everything as easily accessible from digital devices as we can.  Agility Gate again will be a big bonus in this respect, but we will also be taking our question forms online, results will be online, it's going to be a very digital heavy year

That are the big 4 I remember off the top of my head.
We are also VERY open to suggestions from folks.   We have a little over 6 months to plan, so we should be able to implement quite a bit in that time.

And if things are looking drastically better some of this might be relaxed a bit, although I really don't see the mask rule going away, and we wanted to use agility gate anyway regardless of the pandemic, so that's not going anywhere either

Chris, can you update the entry form to say both owner and handler?  I entered for my JH but he doesn't own the dog.  And yet he will want his name on the bar, etc.

Just did that!

I just have Handler listed, since that is all we need for the bar names and all that :)

Chris,

Will you add a place on the entry form to indicate an order for a Champs T-shirt for another person or will that be a separate form to be completed?  I seem to recall that it was part of the entry form in some of the previous years.

We're going to add a different form for any additional orders.    We did have that on the main form, but it's just easier on our end to keep the extra's separated out :)

Is it still true that if we met the qualifications for 2020 Champs we qualify for 2021 Champs?

Thanks,

Chris,
Have you considered using the "Remind" app to send out messages during the event?  Local AKC clubs are using it.  BTW, I LOVE Agility Gate!

We'll use something similar.

We had plans for a text messaging service in 2019, the flaw was that I was in charge of it, and that just doesn't works since I end up getting distracted with other things.   So we'll do that again, but we'll put someone in charge of it :)

So we will have to wear a mask while running the course?

We will allow people to remove masks while running.

This will require a few changes in the chutes, and our ring crew.    We will want to keep people a greater distance from the ring than normal because of this.    We also won't have a steward in the final box, since the handlers would need to be removing their masks at that time.   So the final steward would end up being on the other side of the gates and it will be the handlers responsibility to listen to them :)
