Dog needs temperary help in Utah
« on: August 21, 2012, 01:31:21 PM »
The daughter of a friend of mine needs help in Utah!  This is one of those incredible stories!!  Over 2 years ago my friend’s daughter and husband fell on some hard times and moved back in with my friend with their 5 kids; they had a aussie/bc that had to stay with a friend.  The dog escaped from the friend’s and was gone for a couple of weeks but came back only to escape again.  That was 2 ˝ years ago and the dog was found because it was microchipped in Utah yesterday.  Kristin has found transportation back to Oregon but not until Friday or Saturday; this is where she needs help - is there someone near Kearns that could get the dog and keep it until Friday or Saturday?

Here is Kristin’s Facebook post:
“Kristin Hartman Riccitti - Hey all! I'm looking for some ideas/help. Two and a half years ago my family (5 kids, my husband and I) lost our border collie/aussie, when we had to leave her with a friend for a short time. After putting out flyers and contacting all of the appropriate resources to find her, we never heard anything again.
Just today, I got a call from a vet tech in UTAH! They have our dog Sara! She's chipped so they knew who to call. We live in Aumsville Or, and my husband just got back to work again after being out for a while, so we are not prepared for a sudden, very expensive, road trip...
Do any of you know anyone/organizations that could put together a doggy relay or shuttle type thing, from Utah to Oregon? After 2.5 years I had given up all hope of seeing our Sara again, our kids have been heartbroken wanting her back. Now I'm so emotional and excited to FINALLY have word of her again!
Any information would be greatly appreciated. I'm almost desperate enough to try to set up a paypal thing but I feel so bad asking for that kind of help. I figured if there are any volunteer or small donation people willing to drive part way, that would be my best chance of having her back with us.
Thank you!!!”

This is the latest transportation update:
“She is currently in Kearns, at Westlake Vet Hospital. I just learned a friend of my husband and I, has a group of friends that are visiting Utah for the Babe Ruth World Series, and some of them are offering to drive her home, or most of the way, but they can't pick her up until Friday or Saturday. I'll be racking up kennel charges until then...
If, by chance, the guys don't work out, I'm still trying to get something else organized just in case.
I could use all the help I can get! Hahaha! It will be 3 years in the beginning of March since we last saw her. I'm so amazed right now!”

I know the agility community is the best and it is huge so please let me know if there is anyone near Kearns Utah that can help out this family.  If not I will help pay the boarding fees for her until she gets picked up.

Thank you,
